- Could pass their names onto their children

- If they had enough money, they could buy out of slavery
Children
- Sparta- were trained to fight in war
- Boys attended military school at 6
- They were treated poorly to learn how to be stronger.
- Slept in barracks
- Taught how to steal and lie but not get caught.
Oligarchy
- Sparta was ruled by an oligarchy
- An Oligarchy is a group of wealthy men that rule a certain place
- They ignored most of peoples needs and only worried about their selves.
- Usually oligarchs would make rules that would benefit the rich instead of the poor
- They had the most power in Ancient Sparta
Men
- Also slept in barracks until they retired in from fighting in war
- often away fighting
- Had the right to vote
- Trained how to fight
- Sometimes they were treated poorly to be stronger in war
- Expected to fight at any time
