Men
- In ancient Greece, only free men were citizens.
- Men were responsible to grow and harvest food.
- Drinking parties
- Sometimes, they had there own dining room while the woman waited on him
- Greek dances for men
- Was in charge of whether their wife could leave the house
Children
- Slaves as toddlers even worked in the fields
- Free children played games similar to basketball
- Throwing sticks into buckets were popular games
- They listened to stories such as myths, fables, and legends.
- In most places, (Athens,Corinth, etc.)the reason for education was to be good citizens
- Athens-boys were taught at home until age 6
- When they got older, they went to school to learn to read and write
- Some learned how to play an instrument.
- They did poetry, math, science, and to make a strong argument.
- After high school, they attended military school.
- They graduated around school about 20 years old
- Girls would stay home and be taught by there moms
- Unlike other city-states in Ancient Greece, the Athenians' ran a democracy
- A democracy is a kind of government is where power is shared by all citizens
- Ancient Athens was a direct Democracy
- A direct Democracy mean that any citizen can have a say in government
- A citizen can speak on any change in government that is being made.
- However, free men were the only ones who were considered citizens.
- Women and Slaves were not consider citizens
